Kurt Busch and Kasey Kahne Place in the Top 10 at 2009/06/02 18:14 Karma: 2
Team

In yet another impressive outing for the Dodge Boys, Kurt Busch and Kasey Kahne helped place four Dodge cars in the top twenty at Sunday’s race at Dover.

Leading the charge for the Dodge Boys was Kurt Busch and his #2 Dodge Charger. Busch ran near the front of the pack all day until an ill-timed caution flag cost him seventeen positions. He clawed his way back to the front and finished in fifth place, moving him to fourth place in the overall Sprint Cup standings.

“It was a good day for the Miller Lite Dodge,” said Busch. “This place is always tough and to come out of here with a fifth-place finish is really awesome. I think that we can hold our heads high and be proud of our effort. Just before the second-to-last caution came out, I thought that our Miller Lite Dodge was the fastest car on the race track.”

Using the powerful Dodge R6 engine for the first time, Kasey Kahne remained inside the top ten until a caution on Lap 117 pushed him back to twenty-first. Despite the setback, the hard-charging Kahne rebounded to finish sixth.

“It was a good day for our Budweiser Dodge,” said Kahne. “It was a good race for us. The new motor had plenty of power which made the car fun to drive. We were good on pit stops and the car handled well. Our Dodge was great on long runs, but the race had so many debris cautions that it was crazy. For our Budweiser Dodge team, it was a really good day. We’ve made some really big gains the last few weeks.”

Sam Hornish Jr. continued to run strong as he was able to propel his Dodge Charger to thirteenth, while Reed Sorenson, who led four laps with the new R6 engine, was able to cross the finish line in nineteenth.

So, hold onto your white hats, and get ready to cheer on the Dodge Boys as they look to position themselves in the top twelve to qualify for “The Chase”. Remember, when the Dodge Boys come to town, they don’t just come to race, they come to win.

See you next week!
